Ron Knight was the County Director and Livestock Farm Advisor in Tehama County 1971-1990 and his family is continuing his legacy in sponsoring the Outstanding 4-H Sheep Project Member of the Year award along with members of the community. This award honors a Tehama County 4-H member for their outstanding sheep project. The emphasis is on sheep breeding, leadership and promoting the sheep industry. This year congratulations go to Hayley Byrd of El Camino 4-H Club. As the recipient, Byrd receives a $100 cash award and an individual award. Her name will be listed on a perpetual plaque displayed at the Tehama County 4-H Office. The selection committee found that Byrd has shown growth in size and scope of her sheep project since beginning in 4-H and she actively participates at sheep events, activities, and the Tehama District Fair. For more information on the 4-H Program in Tehama County or how you can donate to the Ron Knight Memorial Fund, call the Tehama County 4-H office at 530 527- 3101.
